Signed orders before you start
A written work order setting out the price, programme, payment dates and responsibilities — never a verbal start.

Sequenced programmes, access and welfare in place, permits managed, and areas handed over ready for your work.

A fair payment process
Application, notice and payment dates set out in writing in line with the Construction Act, with no "pay-when-paid".

Agreed variations
Changes instructed and valued in writing, with cost and time agreed in advance wherever practicable.

Firms that deliver safely, on programme and to standard become our first call for future packages.
Prequalification
What we check before you start.
Every firm is prequalified before its first order, and the checks are repeated when documents expire. Have these ready to speed up approval.
No sub-subcontracting without approval. Firms may not pass work to another subcontractor without our written approval and the same checks.
Company identityCompanies House details or sole-trader identity, plus verified bank details.
Tax & CIS statusUTR and VAT registration, verified with HMRC under the Construction Industry Scheme.
Public liability insuranceCurrent certificate covering the type of work you'll carry out.
Employers' liability insuranceRequired if you employ anyone, including labour-only workers.
Professional indemnityOnly where your package includes design.
Health & safetyH&S policy, sample RAMS and access to competent safety advice.
Competence & cardsCSCS or equivalent cards, trade qualifications and training records.
RegistrationsGas Safe, NICEIC/NAPIT, licences and accreditations relevant to your trade.
Plant & equipmentInspection and test records for the plant and equipment you bring to site.
ReferencesRecent comparable projects and contactable referees.

Site standards
What we expect on every APX site.
- RAMS submitted and accepted before you start
- Site induction completed and signed by every operative
- Valid CSCS or equivalent cards carried on site
- Suitable PPE, inspected tools and equipment
- Permits obtained for hot works, isolations and other controlled activities
- Hazards, incidents and near misses reported immediately
- Work offered for inspection at agreed hold points before it's covered up
- No photographs, publicity or client contact about the project without our approval
- You work as a subcontractor to APX — please don't present yourself as an APX employee
